THE STORY OF OUR EAGLE

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources decided to display this eagle so it could be used for educating people about this amazing and majestic bird.

When alive, this bald eagle weighted 12.3 pounds. It was most likely an adult female eagle, which are larger than male eagles.

The bald eagle was struck by a vehicle on January 14, 1991 in Delta County. A concerned person took the injured eagle to a wildlife rehabilitator, who helps care for wounded wild animals. Unfortunately, the injuries were too great and the eagle died the same day.
