Why Hunt?

While the ultimate goal in hunting is to get the prey for food or sport, there are many other reasons that people hunt:
Family Tradition: a custom that is passed down from one generation to the next
– Heritage: a connection to pioneers and native people
who lived here betore us
– Nature: a way to understand wildlife and its habitat
Peace: the stillness and quiet of the forest or the lake
– Challenge: gaining new skill and knowledge
– Resource Management: maintaining the health of our wildlife populations for now and the future

CLOSE TO YOU

One of the big differences between bowhunting and firearm hunting is range. A bow is a short-range hunting tool, while a firearm gives you a longer range. Unlike a firearm hunter, a bowhunter has to be close to the prey. 1. METHOD: Rifle, shotgun or pistol – PROJECTILE: Bullet or shot – MAXIMUM EFFECTIVE RANGE: 100 yards or more 2. METHOD: Bow or crossbow – PROJECTILE: Arrowhead or broadhead (used for big game hunting) – MAXIMUM EFFECTIVE RANGE: 15-20 yards
