Michigan is home to 13 native species of frogs and toads. Since 1988, the Michigan DNR has been leading the Frog and Toad Survey to learn more about where frogs and toads live and find out if their population numbers are growing, shrinking or staying steady.
As a Citizen Scientist, you’ll learn I to recognize the various sounds made by native frogs and toads. Volunteer scientists survey routes in the spring to listen and record the calls of different species of frogs and toads. The information helps biologists in their work to protect the species.
