Hunting Protects Wildlife

If you are 16 years or older and want to hunt migratory waterfowl, you must buy a Federal Duck Stamp. Did you know that the money you spend on your Duck Stamp helps create wetlands? About 5.6 million acres of wetland habitat have been protected using Duck Stamp fees.

MICHIGAN WATERFOWL STAMP

The Michigan Waterfowl Stamp doesn’t replace the state waterfowl hunting license, but the fees do help purchase wetlands and protect waterfowl.
The program is a partnership between the Michigan Duck Hunters Association and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

HUNTING PROTECTS WILDLIFE

How do we make sure that Michigan’s amazing wildlife will still be here in years to come? The stamp program is one of the best ways to protect wildlife. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) uses money from hunting licenses, Federal Duck Stamps, guns and ammunition to protect wildlife habitat such as wetlands for water fowl. The DNR also sets harvest limits to make sure that waterfowl and other animals are not overhunted and provides educational resources to keep both people and wildlife safe. By working together, Michigan will continue to be a paradise for hunters, bird watchers, photographers and other nature lovers, as well as the wildlife that makes this state great.
