VOLCANOES IN MICHIGAN

More than one billion years ago, volcanoes formed some of Michigan’s oldest rocks.
These rocks contain gold, silver, iron, copper, nickel and other metals.
Today’s miners are engineers who work with giant machines, high-tech equipment and computers. They mine nickel, copper and different metals that are needed to make smart phones and other technology.
